GOODIE bags were given out to two children after their colouring efforts won them a competition run by the Worcester Tourist Information Centre.

Edward Chapman, aged seven, from Kempsey, won the 7-11s category while Izabelle Phillips, aged five, from Stourport, won in the under 7s.

The pair were chosen from more than 30 children who took part in the competition, held during the Worcester Foodie Festival last month.

The youngsters were asked to decorate pictures of sweets and confectionary.

The festival took place at the end of July and saw the city centre filled with more than 70 stalls offering locally produced cider, honey, chocolate, bread, cheese and more, as well as free cooking demonstrations throughout the weekend.

Worcester TIC organised free food tasting outside the Guildhall with visitors sampling some Worcester Rock and the organisation was able to sell its entire stock of Worcester Warrior chutney, made by Myrtle’s Kitchen in Bromyard.

Ruth Smith, manager at Worcester TIC, said: “The Foodie Festival was a brilliant weekend and it was great to see the city filled with visitors.

"Not only was the shop busy all day but we received very positive feedback about the festival.

"Both Izabelle’s and Edward’s colouring displayed neatness and imagination – well done to both”.

Crowds filled the streets for the popular festival, which included over 70 stalls offering locally produced foods and free cooking demonstrations throughout the weekend.
