A NIGHT at the movies became a night to remember when a Strensham man proposed to his girlfriend using a specially-made Lego animation.

Ben Anderson told his partner Kirsten Dally they were off to the cinema in Birmingham, but little did she suspect he had planned to pop the question during the trailers.

The 36-year-old spent months working with 17-year-old animator Morgan Spence to bring happy moments he had spent with Miss Dally to life, using Lego.

Miss Dally, 37, from Strensham, near Worcester, said: "I thought we were just going to the cinema. We settled down to watch the trailers and suddenly this trailer came on which was a Lego animation.

"From the very first shot I realised it was Ben, down to the t-shirt he is wearing."

The animation looked back on snapshots of their time together, including their first kiss and holidays to Thailand and Poland. And it was minute in its detail, even down to the pictures on the wall in Mr Anderson's house.

When it was over, Mr Anderson got down on one knee and asked Miss Dally to marry him - and she said yes.

Miss Dally said: "It took me a moment to realise what was happening. It was a little bit overwhelming but very lovely, and just so thoughtful. Morgan is so, so talented.

"It is certainly a memory that is going to last a life time. I feel very lucky."

The couple, who met 18-months ago over the internet, plan to get married next year - and Miss Dally says there will be an element of Lego to the day.

Mr Anderson said: "I wanted to do something different, something unique - a bit quirky. I thought about different ideas, but a lot of them seemed weather dependent or a bit tricky.

"I was actually terrified, so incredibly nervous. Everyone was great - the cinema lifted the lights up a but and took some photos. It was a really nice atmosphere."

Mr Spence, who is based in Scotland, said: "I got involved in this project about two months ago. Ben got in touch with me, he had seen my work online. He said he had this big plan to propose to his girlfriend and basically asked if I would produce a film.

"This was a refreshing project. It is something personal, something special to the couple. It is really special to me and I'm glad it all went really well for them."
