GREEN fingered housing association tenants have donated home-grown produce to Droitwich Foodbank.

Fortis Living residents produced a bumper harvest at their local community garden on Winslow Avenue and decided to share the excess produce with those in need.

Chris Colley, community officer at Fortis Living, said: "The Community Garden is blooming and there is a large amount of fresh produce growing. It’s great to be able to link up with the local foodbank and make sure the spare harvest doesn’t go to waste."

Mary Stanbury, foodbank leader at the Droitwich Baptist Church-based centre, said: "It is always uplifting to see the local community pulling together to help make a difference to those in need.

"Those who use the Foodbank really appreciate the fresh produce."

Fortis Living tenants have been tending the Community Garden since 2014 when it was developed from an overgrown eyesore.

Local residents who would like to help in the garden can call Mr Colley on 01905 670271.

Based in Ombersley Street East, the foodbank is open on Tuesday from 12.30pm to 2.30pm and on Friday, from 2pm to 4pm.
