A NEW job club has been launched to help people battling long-term unemployment develop the skills and confidence they need to find work.

People who have been jobless for at least six months can sign-up to the weekly course which is being run by trained volunteers from charity Worcester Christians Against Poverty (CAP).

The free eight-week course takes place on a Thursday morning in St Helen’s Church, Fish Street, and promises to equip people with the practical tools and self-belief they need to end their job drought.

Neil Silverthorne, manager of Worcester Job Club, said: “When you’ve been out of work for such a long time it can really damage your self-esteem and you feel increasingly hopeless."

“Our course is all about restoring people’s self-belief and empowering them with the simple skills and confidence they need to sell themselves at interviews.”

CAP has established 145 job clubs across the country which have already helped more than 640 people find work.
