CYBER Council members from Westacre Middle School have visited the National Museum of Computing.

The visit was arrange as a reward for the work done by the members - who are digital leaders at the school.

This includes giving digital advice to children, training digital leaders in other schools and organising and judging a county-wide e-safety poster competition.

The children enjoyed the day which saw them find out about older technology, write their own codes for a partner to decipher and find out about the role of code breakers during world war 2.

They were also able to see some of the first computers in action and play classic PC and console games/

Paul Barber said: "As a school we place great importance on our Computing curriculum.

"A big part of this is ensuring our children are digitally literate.

"This group of children have played a crucial role in promoting online safety to our school and wider community this year, so they thoroughly deserved this special day out.

"They showed fantastic effort, attitude and resilience throughout the day and continue to make us all proud of what they are achieving."

The children will now be asked to share what they have learned back in school, teaching their classmates about code-breaking, encryption and the history of computers.
