BRIGHTLY coloured streams of bunting will be strung out on display in Droitwich this Bank Holiday weekend.

The bunting, which can be seen in Victoria Square and at St Andrew’s Church, was created by residents who took part in a workshop to commemorate World War One.

It also helps to celebrate Droitwich Spa Arts week which is running a variety of events this week.

Jenny Davis, arts development officer at Wychavon District Council, said: "It was brilliant to see so many people get involved with the bunting making workshops and great to see such variety of decoration and ideas.

"As well as helping dress the town as part of the World War One commemorations and Droitwich Spa Arts Week, the project has highlighted how art and creativity can bring people of all ages together."

The bunting workshops were organised by Wychavon District Council in partnership with Droitwich Arts Network, a local network for artists.

The project has also been welcomed and supported by shops in and around Victoria Square.

Droitwich Arts Week continues until Monday 30 May and there are a number of events people can take part in, exhibitions to see and concerts to go to.

On Friday at The Norbury Theatre, 7.30pm, there is a music variety evening that has been organised by the Droitwich Spa German Twinning association.

Meanwhile on Saturday in Victoria Square from 10am until 4pm, there will be an artist in view – that’s outdoor art with a French theme.

On Sunday, at the Lido Park bandstand from 2.30pm, the Blackwell Concert Band will be performing.

And up until Monday there is an International Mail Art Exhibition and a Droitwich Photographic Exhibition titled ‘Past and Present’ on display at The Meetbox at 6 St Andrew’s Square.
