A TEAM of six first year students have taken part in the Engineering Education Scheme.
The team from Worcester Sixth Form College worked alongside engineers from QinetiQ to design and build a prototype laptop based radar system.
They designated roles such as electrical engineers, project manager and antenna designer and met with the engineers on a weekly basis whilst designing their radar.
As part of the programme, they also spent two days at the University of Birmingham where they were able to use the facilities to work on the project.
They submitted a written report to the scheme for assessment and presented to a panel of senior engineers at Cranmore Park, Solihull.
The team won praise for their project and were voted best project by their peers.
Edd Franklin, teacher of Physics at Worcester Sixth Form College, said: "The team worked really well together and have done themselves and the College proud.
"They had an extremely steep learning curve, but when faced with problems they persisted and worked through it.
"They have gained many important skills during the project which will help them in whichever career path they choose to follow."
