THE conventional art on the walls and shelves may be impressive enough but there is another rather unusual 'art' wowing people at Bevere Gallery.

Cats, pigs, Native Americans and even Scooby Doo - Filip Adrian does not use a pencil to sketch.

The barista at the art gallery's cafe creates coffee art for customers who often request specific designs.

He trained in his home country of Romania at the Barista School in Bucharest and is certified by the Specialty Coffee Association of Europe.

The 26-year-old said: "If you are doing it with passion - it's not difficult at all.

"It just takes time - and a lot of wasted coffee and milk - until you learn how to make the perfect milk cream for your patterns.

"You also have to know how to make the perfect espresso shots.

"There is no great cappuccino without the perfect espresso in it.

"The reactions are amazing.

"I think that latte art is a way of communication.

"People start talking between themselves and are taking photos and posting them on social media as well as bringing in new customers so they can experience it as well.

"All of these things are keeping me going to do my job the best way that I can.

"I love to see that I can put smiles on people's faces."

There are two methods he uses to make pictures.

The free pour will take the same time as a normal cappuccino while the etching method takes between two and three minutes.

"Requests are my favourite. They challenge me and I discovered that I was able to do almost all that I was asked for.

"So, feel free to challenge me."

The cafe is open Tuesday to Saturday from 8am to 6pm.
