A WORCESTERSHIRE-based artist will be signing copies of a children's book she has illustrated at Waterstones Worcester.

Marnie Maurri, from Bromsgrove, will also be reading Doodle Girl at the children's event on Saturday, May 21.

Children will be able to enjoy readings, book signings, colouring and doodling activities, stickers as well as a photo opportunity with a giant Doodle Girl.

The illustrator was contacted on Facebook about four years ago by a couple of Leicester-based writers who already had a successful series of books, Hattie B Magical Vets published by Puffin, and had fallen in love with one of her characters - Doodle Girl.

They started a collaboration and received a four book deal within a year from the international and UK publishers Simon & Schuster.

Aimed at pre-school children, it centres around Doodle Girl, a character living in a sketch book with her little group of animal/insect friends.

She has a magic pencil which she uses to turn random doodles into magical modes of transport to take them on magical adventures where invariably they find someone or something who needs her help.

When they do, Doodle Girl uses her magic pencil to help them out.
