A SOLICITOR is hoping to raise more than £2,000 for New College Worcester by running the London Marathon.
Family Law Solicitor Anita Hennessey has a guaranteed place, known as a silver bond place, given to the college for the run this April.
She recently visited the College and met principal Mardy Smith along with pupils and updated them on her training.
Anita Hennessey said: “I have visited New College Worcester a few times to talk to the students about a career in Law and have been really inspired by them.”
“When the opportunity arose to run the marathon for the College I was keen to take on the challenge.
"It’s going to be hard work, but a large part of it is the mental challenge and if I overcome that, and stick to the training schedule, I know I can do it."
The solicitor, who has worked for the Worcester branch of Harrison Clark Rickerbys for over 10 years, grew up doing ballet and mixed martial arts and is a former member of the British team for Jujitsu.
Fundraising Manager for NCW, Anne Priestley, said: “We were delighted to be offered a Silver Bond place in the London marathon 2016, which has taken five years to attain.
"We are very grateful to Anita for running on our behalf, she is putting so much effort into the training, which is very time consuming.”
