A 28-YEAR-OLD man has been arrested for a string of alleged offences which took place in Droitwich.

At around 10pm on Tuesday, police were called to a supermarket in Worcester Road to reports of a robbery.

The man, who is from Droitwich, is alleged to have stolen and damaged items from the shop - thought to be a Sainsbury's - before striking a number of vehicles using a metal object.

Police arrested the man on suspicion of robbery of a business property, attempted robbery of personal property, affray, resisting or obstructing a constable, criminal damage and possessing an offensive weapon in a public place.

A spokesperson for West Mercia Police said: "Officers attended a supermarket in Worcester Road at approximately 10pm yesterday (Tuesday) on reports of a robbery at the premises.

"The offender is reported to have taken some items from the store and caused damage to items of stock.

"It was also reported that the offender was carrying a metal object and used it to strike vehicles."

A Sainsbury’s spokesperson said: "We can confirm there was an incident at our Droitwich Worcester Road store on Tuesday evening. No one was injured and the offender was later arrested."
