A NEW shop shook up the city centre with its grand opening on Saturday.

A long queue of thirsty customers snaked up Pump Street awaiting for the ribbon to be cut on the new Shakeaway shop at 12pm.

Shoppers began queuing an hour beforehand in the hopes of being one of the first 50 through the doors of the new store to receive a free regular milkshake.

Amandeep Mann, who manages the store, said: "The first 50 customers were queuing from 11am.

"It was one of the busiest openings Shakeaway have ever had in the UK.

"The queue went down the road almost up to the High Street and we were constantly serving form 12 all the way until 6pm non stop.

"Even Sunday was just as busy and today for a Monday and with the rain it hasn't stopped customers coming in."
