FIRE crews battled a "deep-seated" fire in woodland at Worcester Countryside Centre last night (Thursday).

Crews from Worcester and Malvern spent two hours tackling the blaze near the woods off Wildwood Drive, Worcester, from 8.45pm.

Firefighters described it as a "deep-seated off road fire" in grass cuttings and undergrowth.

Along with a fire truck from Worcester, off road vehicles were called in from Malvern including a Land Rover and Argocat.

A spokeswoman for Worcestershire County Council, which owns the nature reserves, said the fire was at the bottom of the events fire but did not cause any disruption.

The countryside centre was open as normal the day.
