A DROP-in session to find out more about how to give a child a safe, secure and loving environment to live in is being organised through Worcestershire County Council's fostering service.

The event will give anyone thinking about fostering in Worcester all the information they need and is taking place on Saturday 5 at The Hive between 10am and 12.30pm.

This event is aimed at anyone who wants to find out more about fostering and whether this is for them. During the session there will be a chance to meet with social workers and current foster carers, who are all willing to answer questions and tell you about their experiences. You can hear first-hand about the process of becoming a foster carer, including the challenges you might face, the support you will get from the County Council and the rewards of caring for a child or young person.

To successfully foster you need is to be over 21 and have a spare room and time. Placements can either be short term or long term and you can specify the age range of children you would like to look after.

Councillor John Campion, Cabinet Member for Children and Families, said: "All children deserve to live in a safe, secure and loving environment. The work carried out by our dedicated foster carers in Worcestershire ensures that children in placements receive all the support they need to have the best possible chance in life. For us, these sessions are about celebrating the fantastic job, but also highlighting how important it is that new people come forward. We urgently need new foster carers and invite people across Worcestershire to consider making a difference by fostering a local child.
