A SPLASH of pink and purple has brightened up the neonatal ward at Worcestershire Royal Hospital thanks to a charity formed in memory of a two-week-old baby.

Libby Mae's Little Angels raised £7,000 to buy comfortable chairs for the ward which will help mothers wishing to breastfeed or giving "kangaroo care".

The charity was set up by parents Richard and Charlotte Sharratt in July 2013 following the death of their two week old daughter Libby Mae Sharratt.

In that time it has raised an incredible £140,000 to support neonatal units at hospital throughout the Midlands.

Mrs Sharratt said: "We were delighted when our local hospital Worcestershire Royal asked us for help and were honoured to buy them £7,000 worth of comfortable chairs."

Vicky Bullock, matron for Neonatal Services said: “The chairs are a huge benefit to the mothers wishing to breast feed or to spend time giving what we refer to as kangaroo care.

"This is where they spend time with their baby skin to skin on their chest. The chairs are very vibrant and have really brightened up the unit.”

Libby Mae's Little Angels is collecting good quality, unwanted teddies and soft toys which can be used at summer fetes to raise funds for the charity.
