NOW that summer has well and truly arrived, wild flowers have begun to bloom across the Wyre Forest.

The district council’s parks and open spaces team planted a number of different types of seed mixtures at Brinton Park in Kidderminster and the QEII Jubilee Gardens in Bewdley as well as ring roads throughout the area.

The mix has been created to create a stunning visual effect to encourage bees, hoverflies and butterflies to pollinate.

The beds are expected to continue to flower until the first frost.

Wyre Forest District Council’s cabinet member for operational services Cllr Ian Hardiman said: “We are committed in keeping our parks safe, clean and looking good.

“The wild flowers were a fantastic addition to our parks and open spaces last year and the team were pleased with the positive feedback.

“We hope residents will enjoy them just as much this year.”

The council is asking residents and visitors to the district to send in their pictures of the flowers via Facebook or Twitter to @WyreForestDC.
