A NEW restaurant offering homemade Mediterranean food is to open in the heart of Worcester this Monday.

Wildwood Kitchen in Chapel Walk, CrownGate Shopping Centre, Worcester, will open at the site of the ill-fated House restaurant which shut last October.

But the manager is confident the Wildwood brand will prove a big success in the city, offering something new and unique to the people of Worcester.

The new restaurant will be based in a bustling area of the shopping centre which already boasts a Bill's, Carluccio's, the Green Room and Coffee Dough, and is a popular spot for a meal out.

Wildwood which will employ 25 staff has unique selling points says operations manager, Matt Livings, particularly its fresh deli.

Mr Livings said: “We’re really excited about the opening. The deli table will have the most amazing fresh salads, bread and fresh pastries.

"We’re trying to offer something for everyone from a healthy lunch to cheese burgers with an À la carte menu in the evening. Everything on the menu is also available to take away.

"We offer something is significantly different. It has a fresh feeling to it which is what people want."

In the next fortnight the restaurant will also be adding pizzas to the menu and the company bakes its own bread in Ludlow. There are tables and chairs outside which Mr Livings hopes will be popular with diners over the summer.

The company is nine years old and has developed nine Wildwood Kitchens and 26 Wildwoods.

The Wildwood Kitchens, like the one in Worcester, offer a deli option.

The restaurant will be open 10am to 11pm, seven days a week.

As previously reported Wildwood became the latest leading catering operator to join CrownGate’s restaurant line-up after agreeing a lease for a 4,800 sq ft unit at the shopping centre’s Chapel Walk.

Matthew Baddeley, Asset Manager at The Crown Estate said at the time: “We know that shoppers want more than just a functional shopping experience, which is why we’ve been working hard in Worcester to develop a high quality catering offer, bringing leading operators like Wildwood to Crowngate."
