THE Independent Fundraisers of Worcester group has presented a cheque for £330 to Dementia UK’s admiral nurses.

Admiral nurses are specialist dementia nurses who give much-needed practical and emotional support to family carers, as well as the person with dementia.

The money was raised at a coffee morning, which took place at Worcester’s Guildhall on Saturday, February 28.

Coffee, tea, soft drinks and cakes were served during the event as part of Dementia UK’s ‘Time for a Cuppa’ national campaign, while a number of “exceptional” tombola prizes were won by members of the public.

Amanda Eley, a member of the Independent Fundraisers of Worcester group who recently retired from her career as an admiral nurse in Malvern, said: “It was a pleasure to hand over our cheque for £330 to Vanessa Godfrey, a trustee of Dementia UK, and to Helen Springthrope, admiral nurse team leader for Worcestershire.

"I feel proud to be able to continue to support admiral nurses even in retirement in any way I can through my work with Independent Fundraisers"

The costs of the coffee morning were covered by Westlands Hyundai Worcester meaning 100 per cent of the donations went to the charity.
