VISITORS had to take a closer look to find clues and solve puzzles at an event held at the Elgar Birthplace Museum.

Microscopes were used to discover a world beyond the reach of the human eye at the museum in Lower Broadheath, near Worcester, to celebrate British science week.

The event, entitled Microscopic, was held in association with the Quekett Microscopical Club.

During the weekend of Saturday and Sunday, March 21 and 22, guests were able to get up close to microfossils; discover what the world looks like to a fly, using special lenses, have a look at the tiny insects that live in ponds and take magnified images using their own camera phones.

The special event was held in connection with the museum and entry was included with the cost of visiting Elgar's Birthplace Museum.

On Wednesday, April 1, there will be a Keep the Home Fires Burning event when people can Explore Elgar's Great War with the museum's soldier's kitbag trail.
