THE bulldozers are in and a much loved nursing home near Worcester has been all but flattened as it makes way for a new facility.

The popular Morton House in Fernhill Heath shut it's doors in October last year, much to the disappointment of residents, their families and the staff.

The announcement, made in September, that the home, in Grange Lane, Fernhill Heath, near Worcester, was to close due to money troubles was a shock to many, although planning permission to replace the old building with something new had already been sought.

The plans have since been approved and applicant Majesticare will replace the old home with a new 66 bed care home, including a dementia unit, to be built in one phase.

This will offer more than double the amount of rooms in the previous facility, which could house up to 32 people.

Work is now very much underway.

Majesticare has around 16 care facilities across the country, including Tewkesbury Care Home.
