BOARDGAME buffs flocked to a Worcester store today to make use of a new games room.

Hide N Geek in Reindeer Court, Mealcheapen Street, held it's first official games and tournament day in its brand new games room located above the shop.

Proud geeks and gamers gathered to try out new games and take part in a Yu-Gi-Oh! tournament in what owner Simon Cooper hopes will be the first of many get-togethers.

Mr Cooper started a fundraising campaign to kit out the upstairs of the shop, and although he said money came in slowly, he managed to put in place a number of tables and chairs to allow people to enjoy the space, but hopes to raise more money to buy more games and expand further.

"It has been really busy, which is great, it's good to see people using the space. We've got a number of tournament events lined up so I'm sure we'll be making good use of the room," he said.

Michael Fox, who lives in the Arboretum area of the city, said it is good to have "a dedicated" space for gaming.

"I started coming here to buy comic books, but now my friends and I can just use the upstairs space to play games we love and try out new ones. It nice to be able to come to somewhere like this," he said.
