A MAN had to be rescued from his car today after getting stuck in some flood water near Pershore.

The driver was found to be in about three feet of flood water at Walcot Ford, Drakes Broughton.

A water first responder team and a fire crew from Evesham were called to rescue the man, who the fire service said was not in any life danger but was unable to open the door to the car.

The AA were also in attendance.

The road had been closed for some time when the driver got caught in the flood and the fire service reminded people not to ignore road closure signs.

It's not the first time drivers have been rescued from their vehicles at this spot.

In October last year three people got stuck in flood water at the ford and a month earlier a woman had been rescued from her vehicle.

And in June 2007 Worcestershire judge Eric Dickinson died in the same location after his car was swept away.
