AMATEUR and expert photographers can put themselves in the frame to join a walk to capture the city's scenic landscape and hidden gems.

Rock music photographer Steve Johnston will once again be stepping out of the mosh pit to lead a band of snappers after a successful photo walk last year.

The walk is not only a chance to find unique and unusual photo opportunities in Worcester but also a chance for photographers to swap tips with each other whether they are using the latest state-of-the-art equipment or their mobile phones.

The walk is part of top American photographer Scott Kelby's Worldwide Photo Walk and will take place on Saturday, October 11.

Mr Johnston, whose work has been published in national newspapers and music magazines, said: "It doesn’t matter what camera you’ve got or your ability with it – the walk is about meeting and spending time with some like minded folk on a fun afternoon of photography.

"I hope to see a few faces from last years group as well as welcoming some new participants."

Last year, Nicholas Swift's image of someone peaking through a wooden door was chosen as the winner of last year's walk.

The circular walk will begin at 2pm outside Cafe Severn on Grandstand Road along Severn Way to Diglis Basin and back the other side via the new footbridge.

The photo walk is free but is restricted to 50 spaces.

It will be about three miles and aims to finish by 5pm but people are allowed to finish earlier if they wish.

All photographs from the walk are uploaded on to photo-sharing website Flickr with Mr Johnston selecting his favourite from the pictures taken in Worcester to enter a global competition judged by Mr Kelby.

Mr Johnston has been a music photographer for more than 20 years and during that time has taken pictures of bands including Fun Loving Criminals, Supergrass, The Offspring and Motörhead.
