BUSINESS students from Heart of Worcestershire College raised more than £5,700 for charity as part of their course.

The Higher National Diploma fast track course students had to choose charities of their choice and were given a target of how much to raise.

Two groups went head to head by organising a series of fundraisers and events.

One of the groups raised £2,537 for Birmingham Children's Hospital, while the other raised a total of £3,220 for Cancer Research UK.

Both groups from the course started fundraising in April and finished in August.

Business management course leader Bridget Bennett said: "This assignment has been designed so that the students experience and develop a variety of skills for them to use in real life and in the work place, such as teamwork, communication skills, leadership qualities and also dealing with conflict.

"It gives them opportunities that they probably won’t have and it also gives something back to the community.”
