WORCESTER MP Robin Walker heard about the work of a charity helping those whose loved ones have given their lives in the line of duty earlier this month.

The Conservative politician visited the Forces Support warehouse in Sheriff Street earlier this month where he met staff and heard how the organisation helps bereaved military families.

The warehouse – one of eight in the West Midlands – sells refurbished and second-hand furniture at a low price to help those on low income.

Mr Walker applauded the work of the charity, saying: “This store offers a real service to my constituents as well as to all the military families who benefit from these sales.

“I was pleased to see that Forces Support has already taken on a number of apprentices.

“I was keen to learn all about this relatively young organisation which has been doing some extraordinary work, helping the families of service men and women who lost their lives serving our country.

“The reputation of Forces Support is quickly spreading far and wide and I am delighted to offer my support to this excellent project.”

The charity also gives opportunities to apprentices and provides free support such as home and garden maintenance for bereaved military families.

Founder of Forces Support Bill McCance thanked Mr Walker for his visit.

“There are at least fifty families desperately seeking our help at this moment in time,” he said.

“To support these families requires funding.

“By meeting Robin in person it gave us the ideal opportunity to explain what we are about and how he and his colleagues can help the families of the fallen.

“I know he will take that message back to Westminster.”
