A RADIO presenter will be taking to the airwaves of a different kind as he leaps from an aeroplane to raise cash for charity.

Liam Cash, head of music and voice of the breakfast show at Worcester's Youthcomm Radio and drive time presenter on Sunshine, will be doing a skydive with friend Aaron Wise, a freelance sports journalist, in aid of Prostate Cancer UK on Saturday, May 31.

As two 21-year-old dedicated fundraisers from Worcester, with Liam raising money for Cancer Research UK at his 80s-themed disco last year and Aaron taking part in several Camping for Cancer activities for the same charity, Aaron said they had been planning the dive for some time.

"It's both been on our bucket lists since we hit the airwaves five years ago. And ultimately we've both had close family and relatives pass away from the disease," he said.

"We've never done a skydive before and are complete beginners in the 'adrenaline junkie' world. I've got bad vertigo which I hope to conquer. We're using the airwaves such as Youthcomm Radio and Sunshine radio to get word out about our jump."

So far both Liam and Aaron have only been able to prepare themselves for the 10,000ft freefall by listening to advice from others.

"The best advice I've been given is 'Don't look down'," Aaron added.

"I've recently come back from a year out travelling where I stood on the edge of the Grand Canyon and on a glass platform at the top of the Willis Tower in Chicago and my legs turned to jelly, so a 10,000ft freefall will be an unforgettable experience for the right or wrong reasons."

They are hoping to raise £800 for the charity when they do the skydive in Swindon at the end of May.
