Soroptimist International

It has been a very busy and exciting few months at the club with lots going on.

A trip to Madresfield Court, enjoyed by nine of us on July 2.

An evening at The Swan Theatre Worcester to see "The Best Thing", a mime production by Vamos Theatre.

A very entertaining evening was spent at the Avoncroft Museum, where the Odd Socks players performed an alternative production of Shakspeare's " Much Ado About Nothing".

It was a delightfully amusing evening where theatre goers had brought picnics and wine to enjoy before and during the performance.

A pudding club eve at Gail's house where we presented a cheque to the Basement Project from monies we had raised through out the year.

Our June walk was through Morton Stanley Park combined with a litter pick.

The July walk was Barnt Green Waterways. We pay £1 each when we join a walk and this is saved until the end of he year to go to a local charity of our choosing. Families, non Soroptimist's and dogs are also welcome to join us at these events. Dogs 50p.

Membership open evening.

We all came together to collate and present as much information and history about our club as we could find ready for the open evening held on 9th June. It was a very well attended evening and combined with the presentation we prepared we had a possible five new members.

The book Club met at Judith's house on July 28 to discuss "The Night Circus" by Erin Morgenstern" Following on from one of the earlier books chosen by the club a trip to Bletchley Park is organised for August.

Sarah's BBQ was a great success on July 31at her house. Members family and friends enjoyed good food, good wine, and good company whilst Sarah's husband Mike did the honours on the BBQ. The £200 that was raised will be going to The Redditch Night Stop Charity

The future, well we have a full programme of events for the coming months.

Sue is organising the August walk, which is planned for Saturday August 20th. Non- members families and friends are all welcome.

Liz has organised a Tapas evening at Chateau Impney on 17th August. 6.30pm members family and friends welcome.

Friendship Link. We are all invited to S.I Burton upon Trent for the weekend of 24th September to have fun helping them celebrate their 75th Anniversary. They have arranged trips out over the weekend with a celebratory meal on the Saturday evening.

This year we are celebrating our 50th Anniversary and plans are finally coming together after much time spent in excited anticipation of how and what to do for our celebration weekend on 21/22/23rd October.. We have invited our S.I. friends from Burton upon Trent and our other friendship link the Neuss S.I. Club in Germany. There will be a programme of events over the weekend itself with a celebratory meal on the Saturday evening.

There's no way we can sign off without congratulating Gail who has been appointed Federation Communications Officer, she will take up the post in November and we all wish her every success in the role.

Soroptimist's focus on transforming the lives of women and children locally, nationally and globally through education empowerment and enabling.
