Parkinsons UK

We have had an exercise group running on the fourth Wednesday of the month at our Redditch venue for quite a while now. It is well-meaning and does us good but everyone usually collapses with laughter as we try to follow our games-master’s instructions. It is good fun and well worth attending.

There is now an exercise group up and running in Bromsgrove on the second and fourth Mondays of the month between 3.30 and 4.30pm and can be found at The Community Room, Crabtree Court, Sidemoor, Bromsgrove. The exercise group will run for a trial period of six months up to December 11th while its popularity is judged, but if it proves to be a success we shall do our best to keep it going with what funds are available.

As is usual on the first of our two July meetings we have a strawberry & cream tea. This commences at 3pm but your committee is there a good hour and a half earlier, busily preparing the delicious meal. I turned up at 1.30pm only to find that most of the work had already been done and promptly found myself being berated by Chair Pat Nash for “Standing around, hands in pockets, like a typical man!” I quickly found some work! The tea normally attracts a full house and this one was no exception.

Alan and Lynn Nokes’ garden is part of the National Gardens Scheme and they are holding an Open Garden Day in aid of Parkinson’s Disease on July 30 from 11am. It is a beautiful garden and is well worth visiting at Braces Lane, Marlbrook, Bromsgrove. Our branch meets on the 2nd and 4th Wednesdays of the month from 2pm at the Rocklands Club in Birchfield Road, Redditch. If you are a Parkinsons sufferer or a carer for someone who suffers from it feel free to call and check us out. You will find us a cheerful lot, always up for a laugh and we usually have something organised, such as a speaker or a photography show, etc. Have a look at our website reddibromparkinsons.co.uk for information or call secretary Joy on 01527 544424 or Martin on 01527 61814 for details.
