St Catherine's Blackwell WI

Two visitors were welcomed to the June meeting and apologies were received from six members. Minutes from the previous meeting were taken as read and signed. Thanks to Maureen and Sylvia for providing the teas etc. Three birthdays this month Dianne, Jean W and Sandra.

A good selection of home grown plants were donated to the sales table and thanks to Carolynne who had volunteered to sell them in Rosie’s absence.

We raised a glass and made a toast to the Queen on her official birthday and instead of a speaker we were entertained by Norma who had put together a collection of her favourite jokes which went down very well with her audience.

After this we had a beetle drive organised by Jean and again was good fun and was enjoyed by everyone. Thank you to both ladies.

Book clubs next meeting will be at Teresa ‘s on Monday, August 22.

A reminder that a former member Gladys is holding a charity day in aid of Edwards Trust on Monday July 18.

Blackwell School Fete is Saturday, July 1612 noon at the school all donations of cakes and help on the day welcomed.

Pam M talked briefly about the our Timeline project for the Worcestershire Centenary Book. She will get together with Pearl to discuss this further.

Denman The WI College are asking all WI’s to help raise funds to maintain the buildings. We have decided to donate the proceeds of the cake raffle at the school fair. We have also been invited to a Silent Auction by Blackwell and Burcot WI on Saturday, July 2 10.30. till 12.30 at Rae’s all proceeds will be donated to Denman College.

Details of all outings were given out Soirée at Hartlebury, Snowshill Manor and the Lavender fields and the riverboat trip from Stratford with lunch.

Skittles evening in September looking for someone to organise this.

Culture Club outing for September it has been suggested that a lesson on the golf driving range at Bromsgrove followed by lunch may be of interest.

The secretary gave her report which included events organised by Worcester Federation all leaflets available to those interested.

The Treasurer sent a board round for members to order calendars and diaries.

Also the National Raffle tickets were sent round for members to buy.
