THE society held its first talk of the new season at The Trinity High School on September 19.

It was an enthralling and absorbing experience entitled The search for Richard III and was given by Richard Buckley, archaeologist and lecturer at Leicester University, who was actually present at the unearthing of the king’s remains beneath a car park in the East Midlands city.

The talk was captivating in that each stage of the unearthing was shown in detail, making it seem a personal joining together of wills to find him, the last Plantagenet king of England.

A thoroughly engrossing evening which augurs well for our series of further talks in this, our 70th year.
