LAST month, the society welcomed 44 members and 16 visitors to the first demonstration of the year, Paradise is a Garden, by national demonstrator Tony Brown from Leicestershire.

Tony has been twice before, the first time in 2008, and again in 2010.

He gave a wonderful demonstration, making nine beautiful arrangements which were raffled at the end of the afternoon.

The society also awarded the yearly trophies for the competitions: Flower Arranging Competition: advanced class – joint 1st Jean Govier and Jean Ward (The Linda Hoggett Trophy), intermediate class – Maureen Westwood (The Alan Hoggett Trophy), Maureen moves up to the advanced class, and novice class – Joy Mason (The C J Cadbury Trophy). Joy will now move up to the intermediate class.

Flower of the Month Competition: 1st – Margaret Shaw (The Godfrey Baseley Cup), 2nd – Maureen Westwood (The Critchley Cup) and 3rd – Betty Oakley (The Novice Cup).

The March meeting was on the 20th at 2.15pm at All Saints Church Hall, Bromsgrove.

The society welcomed back Laura Leong, the demonstrator that month and her theme was Springtime Sensations.

After the demonstration there was a raffle of the demonstrator’s arrangements.

The society is always pleased to welcome new members and visitors, not only from Bromsgrove, but from all surrounding districts.
