PRESIDENT Val Wheeler welcomed members and guests to the Christmas party in the village hall with a glass of wine or fruit juice.
Members were reminded the New Year meal will be at the Nailer’s Arms.
The parish council has invited members to the carol concert at the village hall on December 20.
A calendar has been received from our linked WI in Ballarat, Australia. Members were given the sad news that Ruby, who had been a member for many years, had died aged 94.
Nicky Moran entertained by singing a variety of well-known carols and songs.
The afternoon was not without its drama as the electrics were overloaded with the sound system and several kettles cut off Nicky’s backing music. Fortunately, after the trip switch had been reset, the festivities continued.
The next meeting is on February 3 at 2.15pm when the speaker will be talking about Elgar, the Man and his Music. Visitors welcome.
