Shirley Cadman began our October meeting with a cookery demonstration.

Her topic was A Taste of Worcestershire but she said that taste was mainly apples and pears, so she extended the subject to Autumnal Flavours.

Soon delicious aromas were wafting towards us as a venison casserole gently bubbled away in the oven. Not only were dishes made up, but Shirley gave useful tips on preparing butternut squash for soup making.

A beetroot and chocolate cake and a parsnip cake rounded off the demonstration and members eagerly gathered around the table to sample and enjoy the great variety of dishes and flavours.

During the business meeting Jenny thanked members for bringing photographs relating to events that Sidemoor had participated in for the group exhibition in Bromsgrove Library in November. Members who recently visited Denman College on a day visit were charmed by the first class accommodation and the state of the art cookery school.

On December 2 Jenny is holding a Bring and Buy and Coffee morning at her home.

Our November meeting will be at Park Farm, Hanbury, when we will be watching Anna Mead demonstrating flower arrangements with Christmas in mind.

Sidemoor WI meets on the third Wednesday each month in Willow Court, Willow Road, Sidemoor and we welcome new members.
