BANDS at the Broom’ music, beer and cider festival in Warwickshire hit all the right notes with scorching weather, a big crowd and superb entertainment.

The popular event in the grounds of Broom Hall Inn, near Bidford, pulled in around 700 people and raised £3,000 for good causes.

There was live music from local bands, a hog roast, real ale and real cider.

Organiser John “Hoppy” Hopkins said: “It was a fun day. We were very lucky with the weather as usual.

"There was a great atmosphere. Everyone was enjoying themselves and leaping about to the bands by the end of the evening.”

He thanked the sponsors, Cross Motor Engineering and paid tribute to his team of helpers, including Garrett Felton, Bob Ayriss and Debbie Coldwell as well as pub landlord David Carvell for kindly hosting the event.

A total of £3,000 was raised on the day with the proceeds split between Woundcare4Heroes, the UK’s only specialist wound care charity for former members of the military and Warwickshire Air Ambulance.

Claire Stephens, chief executive of Woundcare4heroes, said: “Hoppy and his loyal support team work incredibly hard to organise this event year-on-year.

"Woundcare4Heroes is very grateful for their amazing support and the incredible bands who donate their time to the cause for the difference this makes in helping our charity to support more veterans with complex wound care needs.”
