FAMILIES from across the district will have all summer to take part in a special Malvern Hills treasure hunt.

Letterboxing is an orienteering challenge where participants use a notebook containing clues to find 25 rubber stamps hidden in letterboxes across the hills.

The stamps have been specially designed by local children aged five to 13 as part of a competition.

Once they have found all 25, explorers will be able to collect a badge from Malvern Tourist Information Centre.

To take part, visit the TIC in Church Street to buy a pack for £3, which includes a clue sheet, notebook and map.

The challenge, which will be available all summer, has seen 105 people receive packs so far, and more than 100 people attend the launch event at the end of May.

The challenge has been created by Malvern Hills District Council in partnership with Malvern Hills Trust and Malvern Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty as a way of encouraging children and families to get outdoors and be active.

Cllr David Watkins said: “We have had a really positive response so far. The challenge is still available and families will be able to enjoy the beauty of the Malvern Hills whilst having fun and being active."

Beck Baker of Malvern Hills Trust, said: “It has been fantastic to see so many families taking part in this challenge. We’re hoping that more will join the challenge to get active, to find out what’s so special about the Malvern Hills, and possibly to explore some places they’ve never been before.”
