MP Harriett Baldwin has urged businesses in Upton-upon-Severn to go for growth as the town benefits from a major £2 million investment to its road links.

And the MP gathered with local councillors Jeremy Owenson, Andrea Morgan and Mike Morgan to discuss plans to encourage further growth across the area.

Worcestershire LEP has funded the £2 million road improvements along the A4104 to protect it from flooding.

The county council is also investigating a roundabout on the A38 to improve traffic flows to Worcester, Pershore and the motorway.

Mrs Baldwin said: “The major investment in infrastructure is really important for Upton’s businesses and tourist trade and once this first phase of work is completed, it will make a huge difference to flood resilience on the road into town.

“Our local councillors are now going out and getting feedback on how to make the most of this investment and develop a comprehensive local plan.

“This is a wider piece of work to help Upton’s community and its businesses to thrive and grow and I fully support the councillors’ efforts to develop this plan.”
