STOURPORT Carnival’s Queen's Court has been selected ahead of this year’s big event.

King Charles I School pupil Laura Potts, who is aged 16, was selected as the new queen for the Carnival, which takes place on September 1.

Gabby Evans, who is aged 12 and attends Stourport High School, has been chosen as princess while the new rosebud is seven-year-old Hermione Homer who goes to St Wulstans RC School.

For the first time in the event’s history, boys have been invited to join the Queen’s Court and judges selected two princes for the occasion.

Stourport High School 13-year-old Zach Savage and seven-year-old Harrison Bianco, who goes to St Wulstans RC School, were selected.

The judging panel that chose Laura to lead the consort was current queen Antonia Alberone-Chamberlain, Stourport Mayor and Mayoress David and Shirley Little and Yacht Club Commodore and Commodore’s Lady Jack and Tina Watkin.

The rest of the consort were picked by Antonia, Yacht Club representative Sue Caldicott, dressmaker Jayne Lindsay and Cameo hairdresser Katherine Roberts.
