KIND pub bosses from Bromsgrove and Wychbold are set to play their part in a charity car rally.

Managers from 15 Harvesters across the Midlands are preparing to join forces and hit the road in aid of Make-A-Wish Foundation UK.

Lickey End Harvester boss Giles Carless and Simon Appleton, from Wych Way Inn, Wychbold, will be swapping their salad and grills for four wheels when they take part in a sponsored rally on Tuesday, August 7.

The 400-mile round trip will see the fundraisers driving between the Harvester Monkspath, Solihull, and Blackpool Pier.

The managers will be easily recognised as they will be in fancy dress driving their self-funded 'banger', which has been given a special Harvester twist. Across the businesses, Harvester hopes to raise around £7,500.

Make-A-Wish helps children and young people with life-threatening conditions by granting their wish. It was founded in the UK in June 1986 and, since then, has granted more than 7,600 wishes. Over the last five years, Harvester restaurants up-and-down the country have raised more than £200,000 for the charity.
