PUPILS from Dodderhill School got to perform at Birmingham Town Hall recently as part of a special concert with a male voice choir.

The choir of 90 girls from the independent girls’ school teamed up with choirs from other schools, as well as the Birmingham Schools Brass Band, renowned soprano Louise Lloyd, and male voice choir Canoldir for the night.

Former Dodderhill pupil Isabelle Palmer, was also invited to sing a solo on the night, performing Rutter’s ‘Pie Jesu’ and ‘In the Bleak Midwinter’ before being awarded Canoldir’s Young Musician of the Year award on the night.

Cate Mawston, headteacher at Dodderhill School, said: “Everyone involved thoroughly enjoyed the event. We were very proud of our girls in the choir who sang beautifully and of our former pupil Isabelle whose performance stunned the crowd. We’re really pleased to have been invited along to sing and to enjoy the festivities and will take away some wonderful memories of a very special evening; it was a real privilege for the girls to perform alongside Canoldir. We are all well and truly in the Christmas spirit now.”
