POLICE are appealing for witnesses after a serious collision on the B4090 Hanbury Road in Droitwich.

The incident occurred just before 7pm on Friday, October 17 when a bronze coloured Vauxhall Astra hatchback and a white Citroen Berlingo panel van were travelling along the road in the direction of Inkberrow.

The Astra collided with a white BMW travelling in the opposite direction.

The driver of the Astra, a 51-year-old man from Droitwich, suffered severe injuries, which are believed to be life-threatening, and he was taken to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital by ambulance, while the driver of the BMW, a 54-year-old man from Inkberrow, suffered minor injuries as well as the three passengers he was transporting. All of them were taken to Worcester Hospital where they received attention.

The road was closed at the Himbleton junction throughout the incident.

Police are appealing for anyone who might have witnessed the incident to come forward, by contacting West Mercia Police on 101, quoting incident number 636 of October 17.
