A DEAD body has been found by rescue teams in the search for missing Studley man Brian Pitt.

West Mercia Search and Rescue were called out to a missing person search near Bromsgrove on Wednesday evening (June 13).

The dead body was found in the Lickey Hills.

A spokesman for West Mercia SAR said: "The team was tasked yesterday evening to search for 59yr old Brian Pitt, who had been reported missing from Studley.

"During this search we discovered a body, which although has not yet been formally identified, Mr Pitt's family has been informed.

"We were then able to help police with a dignified and respectful recovery to the funeral directors.

"We would like to send our condolences to Mr Pitt's family and friends.

"We would also like to thank the team who were involved in the search and recovery operation, and our colleagues from Warwickshire Search and Rescue and Severn Area Rescue Association - Wyre Forest Station who joined us."

A spokesman for West Mercia Police added: "A body has been found as part of a search for 59-year-old Brian Pitt, who was reported missing from Studley last Saturday (June 9).

"His next of kin has been informed.

"Formal identification is yet to take place. The death is not being treated as suspicious at this time.

"We would like to thank the public and the media for their help in sharing an earlier appeal."
