FISH puppets were paraded around the city as World Fish Migration Day was celebrated in Worcester.

For the first time, around 700 people paraded in bright sunshine from The Guildhall to the University of Worcester City Campus.

It was one of a believed 500 events worldwide to celebrate fish migration.

The parade was organised by the Severn Rivers Trust, as part of their project to unlock the Severn.

Overall, around 1200 school children from Northwick Manor Primary School, St Clement’s Primary School and Cranham Park Primary School helped to design puppets for the parade.

Mike Morris, deputy director of Severn Rivers Trust said: “It went fantastically well.

“The fact that 1200 school kids have worked on over the last six weeks is particularly pleasing.

“We have a project to unlock the Severn so that all fish can migrate, so we wanted to hold this event in Worcester where the Severn is most prominent.

“It is the first time we have held it here and we have really enjoyed it.”
