A NEW era for Ledbury Town Council will be marked with a community picnic in the Walled Garden this Sunday, where people will be able to meet the council’s new chairman, Nina Shields.
Cllr Shields accepted the position of Chairman of Ledbury Town Council last week, and she says one task ahead was to regain the confidence of the town, following recent resignations and upheavals.
Cllr Shields said she was confident that the council had “the makings of a strong and representative team”.
She added: “We need to examine what has happened and learn from it to build a better future.
“Initially my focus will be on governance and transparency.
“I would like to increase the number of parish meetings, for example holding one at the start of the budget setting process, normally October, and possibly one in the summer.”
The picnic will take place on June 3, from 1pm to 4pm
Cllr Shields said: “At the heart of everything is our community.
“Bring your picnic along too, and meet some of your councillors.”
