Historian Dr Lucy Worsley will present an evening discussing the Life of Jane Austen at The Courtyard on Tuesday, April 17.
Lucy’s biography of Jane Austen was published in May last year and looks at Jane Austen’s life from the perspective of her bi-centenary. It considers what home meant to Jane, and tells the story through the rooms, spaces, possessions and places which mattered to her. Dispelling the myth of the cynical, lonely spinster, Lucy instead offers a witty and passionate woman of her time, who refused to settle for anything less than Mr Darcy.
Dr Lucy Worsley is passionate about making history engaging to the widest possible audience. As well as being Chief Curator at Historic Royal Palaces, Lucy is a hugely popular writer, broadcaster and speaker. She also regularly presents a range of BBC television programmes including Lucy Worsley's Nights at the Opera and Jane Austen: Behind Closed Doors.
Lucy Worsley: At Home with Jane Austen will be at The Courtyard on Tuesday, April 17 at 7.30pm. To book, call the box office on 01432 340555 or visit courtyard.org.uk.
