A DEVELOPER has acquired major site for a new estate,to the west of Newent.

Bellway Homes has acquired a site on land north of Ross Road in Newent for circa £4.8m following a deal brokered by Bruton Knowles, and promoted by Gladman Developments.

The 12.35 acre site already has outline permission for 85 two to five bedroom homes.

Harry Breakwell from Bruton Knowles’ Gloucester office said: “This is a roughly diamond-shaped site comprising two fields bordered by existing homes to the east and the Ross Road to the south.

“The masterplan envisages public open space at the western end of the site with an attenuation pond in the north eastern corner."

He added: "The southern section of the site will be undeveloped in order to retain the attractive views to the nearby Picklenash Court.”

The Section 106 agreement includes contributions to Newent Library, the highway network, air quality monitoring as well as public open space and sports provisions.

Mr Breakwell said: "This is a significant residential development and will include 40 per cent affordable homes, providing both affordable rental and intermediate ownership dwellings for local residents.

“The site is readily accessible to the town centre which benefits from a range of services including three schools, supermarket, post office, pubs, cafes, banks, shops and restaurants.”
