THE girl viciously stabbed as she arrived at school in Stourbridge this morning has been named by police as Chloe West, aged 14.
At a lunchtime press conference at the school, police said she had been knifed nine times in the neck and face outside the grounds of Ridgewood High School in Wollaston.
Chloe was airlifted to Birmingham Children’s Hospital and was said to be in a stable condition. She will undergo surgery this afternoon.
Teachers, parents and pupils are believed to have tackled the knifeman and held him until police arrived.
An 18-year-old man - described as “an ex-boyfriend” - was arrested.
Supt Stuart Johnson praised the quick-thinking staff, parents and pupils, saying: “In my opinion, their actions prevented Chloe from suffering even more serious injury.”
