STUNNING eight foot icicles found near Stourbridge have been causing a stir as temperatures plummeted this week to the lowest in decades.
The incredible ice sculpture formed beneath Ashwood Bridge at Wordsley’s Ashwood Marina - where boaters have been frozen in as the canal iced over and temperatures dropped as low as -13 on Monday night.
Clive Grosvenor, of Grosvenor Marsh Narrowboats based at the marina, said the icicle spectacular was the result of a water leak. He said: “It’s come through the bridge and it’s just frozen up.”
Ice-trapped narrowboat owners are not expeced to be able to move on from the marina for at least a week.
