CARING teenagers got together during the summer break to raise much needed funds for a Stourport children’s charity.

Young people from the district, who had just finished their GCSE exams, took part in a four week National Citizen Programme, part of which was to get involved in their community and make a difference.

They decided to boost Mentor Link through a series of activities including organising a family festival at St Oswald’s Church in Broadwaters, doing a three-day bag pack at Kidderminster’s Marks & Spencer and a collection in Tesco’s.

And their efforts saw them raise a total of £1,036 for the charity which provides one-to-one support to young people in schools.

Founder and CEO of Mentor Link Andrea Maddocks MBE said: “I am really impressed with the range of activities the group organised and the hard work involved.

“This is the largest amount ever raised for Mentor Link by young people taking part in this scheme, they can be very proud of their achievements.”
