A TRADE association is helping find vital research into stroke by 'stepping up' for stroke.

British Healthcare Trades Association (BHTA) has launched a fundraising event to help the Stroke Association, the UK’s leading charity dedicated to conquering stroke.

BHTA members have decided that the best way to raise funds and awareness was to do 10,000 steps every day in September which over the month equates to 300,000 steps or nearly 150 miles. With over 180 members involved in the event the total all participants will have covered by the end of the event is over 54 million steps (which is over 27,000 miles).

Each company or staff member supporting the event will be gaining sponsorship and they will be looking to find places where they can carry out their steps challenge.

Local BHTA member and Our Retailer of the Year, TPG Disabled Aids in Plough Lane, Hereford are actively supporting the event and their staff are busy building up their steps count.

Event organiser Sally Edgington from BHTA said: “Following the success of the inaugural event last year and raising over £3500 for Scope we felt that this year we could recruit more BHTA members to participate and hopefully increase the amount raised for a fantastic cause. The monies raised for the Stroke Association will be presented at our annual awards dinner at Alton Towers Hotel on 29th November”.
