STAR students celebrated outstanding A-level results and cemented their university places in a record breaking year for a Wolverley sixth form.

Wolverley CE Secondary School and Sixth Form are delighting in their best ever post-16 exam results, with students who applied to further education, securing their places.

This video captured the moment Holly Burgess and Alice Smith discovered they achieved the results they had their hopes set on.

Holly was one of the first students to open her results today, and was "exhilarated" with the grades she had earned.

She received an A* in English, as well as B grades in Maths and Biology, which will see her study Linguistics and English at the University of Bangor.

Alice was overwhelmed with her results upon opening them, and was pleasantly surprised with her A* in English, to go along with A and C grade she achieved in other subjects.

She will now go on to study a English and History joint honours degree at the University of Birmingham next term.

The school's A-level results have significantly improved, with 42 percent of all grades being A* to B, with last year's results hitting 17.6 percent.

As well as this 77.4 percent of grades were A* to C, compared to last years 50 percent.

BTEC Level 3 results were also a "major achievement" for the school as 52.6 percent of all grades were Distinction* to Distinction, whilst 89.4 percent of grades were Distinction* to Merit.

Headteacher Bryn Thomas said: "The Staff at Wolverley CE Secondary School send huge congratulations to all of our sixth form students who have worked incredibly hard.

"We are delighted that all those intending to go to University have secured a place, whilst those choosing not to go have secured employment or further education opportunities.

"We wish them all the very best of luck for the future.
